Sets of five CSF Microtubes can be collected from the Chemical Pathology Registrar
Microtubes must be collected onto Ice slurry and delivered immediately to specimen reception.
Samples contaminated with blood must be centrifuged and the supernatant transferred to a clean labelled tube before freezing.
Send CSF Microtube number 2 frozen with request form.
Pack with sufficient dry ice to remain frozen to arrive frozen in Sydney.
Samples arriving in Sydney after 2 PM may not be processed until the following day.
MUST BE APPROVED BY CHEMICAL PATHOLOGIST.
Only approved as part of a Phenylalanine Challenge Test performed by the Movement Disorders Team
