From the 23/12/2019 - 05/01/2020 MND laboratory closed. All specimens received during this time to be frozen at -70o C.

CSF sample should be directed to Microbiology (NPV) prior to forwarding to refer laboratory.

Can be ordered in combination with NMDA, AMPA, ANTI- LGI 1, ANTI- CASPR2, ANTI DPX, ANTI- VGKC. (1.0ml csf is adequate for combination testing).

 

Samples suitable for auto-antibody screening:

Blood Serum: request for 5.0 mls of blood collected in serum gel with tubes (SST)

CSF: request for 1.0mls

Samples not available for delivery following collection are to be stored at 4oC and delivered on ice. Storage at 4oC is suitable for up to 2 weeks thereafter samples need to be frozen and sent on dry ice.

Urgent requests can be performed on receival by refering laboratory.
