Collection & Request Instructions:A separate container is required for this test.

Dedicated EDTA tube. Flow Cytometric analysis of cells stained with a range of antibodies against lymphoid and myeloid markers. The panel of markers used will be appropriate to the clinical notes supplied or as arranged by prior consultation.

Samples must be marked “Urgent”. Flow cytometry is NOT available after 1pm on Fridays or during weekends/afterhours. Testing during these times require approval from a laboratory haematologist PRIOR to sample collection. Otherwise, the sample may not be tested in time (within 2-4 hours for CSF, up to 24 hours for blood sample) or tested at all. Samples not processed in time is non-viable and non-diagnostic.

Laboratory haematologist can be contacted on 8405 2596 during normal working hours or via switchboard after hours.

For peripheral blood sample, an FBE must also be requested and collected (additional 3mL EDTA tube).

For lymphoma panel, lithium heparin tube can be used and is valid up to 48 hours.

Blood and bone marrow specimens are to be kept at room temperature.  All other specimens are to be refrigerated.
