Collection & Request Instructions:

Test should be specified as 2019-nCoV PCR or Wuhan coronavirus PCR.

Test will only be performed if approved by DHHS. Please annotate on request form that DHHS has approved testing.

It is recommended to obtain a lower respiratory tract specimen (eg. sputum, BAL, endotracheal aspirates) where practicable. If not, a nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab may be collected using the Flu collection kit. Both swabs should be placed together in the same tube with liquid media.

A serum sample should also be collected for "coronavirus serology".

All specimens should be delivered by hand, not by pneumatic tubes.
