A separate container is required for this test.
A separate unopened EDTA blood tube is required. 4ml EDTA is acceptable if full.
Collect in the morning to allow for the lengthy preparation that must occur on the same day. Specimen must be less than 24 hours old.
A maximum of 1 CMV viral load test per sample type will be performed on any patient in a one week period.
Testing performed on Roche Ampliprep/ Taqman – LoD 137 IU/ml.
Requests for urgent or more frequent testing must be approved by the Microbiology Unit Head.
Note, as this test is not covered by Medicare, non-Northern Health patients will be responsible for the cost incurred, and patient consent must be obtained. |
