If the word gene or DNA is used in the request, this is for genetic test. Thalassaemia genetic test is performed at Monash, register as MON.

FBE, iron studies and Hb electrophoresis results must be sent together with second EDTA tube.

Once registered place all samples and request forms in the bucket labelled thalassaemia screening program in the small walk in fridge. All request for thalassaemia screen and DNA analysis will be triaged by the thalassaemia scientist.
