Collection & Request Instructions:

Blood for ionised calcium should be collected anerobically into a blood gas syringe. Venous or arterial blood is suitable.

Transport Instructions:Send to lab immediately

All ionised calcium samples must be received by the laboratory within 30 minutes post collection (at room temperature) or 1 hour if transported on an ice slurry. 

If samples are collected at a non-TNH site, send to the laboratory on an ice slurry.
