Adults Volume or Mass:20 mL
Collection & Request Instructions:

20 mL blood (5 x 4ml lithium heparin) or 0.5-1.0 mL bone marrow in preservative free heparin (sodium).

These studies are generally performed for additional diagnostic information at the time of marrow biopsy in patients with acute leukaemia, myeloproliferative disorders and stem cell transplant recipients.

Bone marrow specimen needs to arrive at St Vincents on the day of collection before 5pm.  Peripheral blood needs to arrive within 24 hours.
